Firefox está em mais de 100 mil PCs no Banco do Brasil

O Banco do Brasil atingiu, em maio, a marca de mais de 100 mil instalações do navegador de internet Mozilla Firefox em seus computadores. A instituição utiliza o software desde 2005, quando iniciou a implantação do GNU/Linux nas máquinas das agências.

Governo alemão destina 500 milhões de euros ao software livre

Depois do governo britânico demostrar que o software livre é melhor para seus contribuintes e, a partir daí, desenvolverem um plano de ação para impulsioná-lo, outros governos europeus parecem estar tomando nota e montando outros planos para apoiar o Software Livre. De fato, o governo alemão acaba de decidir destinar 500 milhões de euros ao programa "Open Source and Green IT", um programa dedicado à estabilidade e crescimento das ferramentas de Software Livre, tecnologias "green" e soluções de segurança da informação para objetivos governamentais.

Wikipedia adopts Ubuntu for its server infrastructure

The Wikimedia Foundation, the organization behind the hugely successful Wikipedia project, is migrating all of its server infrastructure to the Ubuntu Linux distribution. This move reflects the growing viability of Ubuntu for enterprise-scale server deployments.
